So yea, it's been a while, I've had some serious drinking to do, and a job interview.
Thuesday saw the first match for Holland on the European Championship Soccer, against Germany...
Now we all know Holland and Germany have a lovely soccer history together, don't we ? Just to refresh your memory, the current German Coach, Rudi Völler, has some fond memories of us. In 1990 during the World Cup in Italy, our very own Frank Rijkaard had his famous "spitting" encounter with Völler, after having spat him in the face twice it ended in both Rijkaard and Völler getting send off with red cards, Germany won the match though :S The same rivalry had been going on forever though, in 1974 with Cruijf and in 1988 with Van Basten.
So another Holland - Germany, riots were bound to break out...
Germany scored 1-0, bastards, both teams were playing really bad so we had little hope on winning, or even getting a tie. Their goal was lovely though, a free kick that ended up untouched and bounced into the goal. The guy that made it got sold for 10 million to Bayern Munchen right after that. But then, Van The Man managed to poke one in!!! Yay!!! Darn the pub where I was watching went crazy, hehe. That was it, no more goals, no riots, just happy Germans and happy Dutch. The idea was that I wouldn't be drinking cos I had a job interview the next morning. Ten beers later I gave up not drinking, and that was just the 1st half...
So I went to bed at 3:30, piss drunk. Thank god I had set 3 alarm clocks before I left for the pub :)
So at 8:30 the alarms went off, waking me with a mix of techno beats, raggea and classical music. I had been smart enough to drink a lot of water before I went to bed, so I didn't wake up with a headache, just a sore gut and the stink of beer and alcohol surrounding me. After a quick shower and a 15min toothbrushing session I was smelling lots better. So off I went.
I had practiced the route there the day before cos I had never been in that direction. It was a 40 minute bike ride, a lovely one though. I arrived 10 minutes early and waited in chairs. After a few people had passed who I thought were going to interview me finally the right person came along. A guy in a suit was with him, all dressed up, asif he was looking to get the part of James Bond. There I was, with my bright red backpack, my stonewashed jeans and my favourite sweater, hehe. I unloaded my camera, my PDA and my Ipod from my pockets and followed the guy to his office. On the table he had my crappy CV as he put away the 3 page full-color binded CV of the guy that just left...
Another collegue of his joined us and we had a nice little chat. It went, uhm , well, I guess. My current job has me dealing with lots of stress, and this job, has lots of stress. The stress level there is so much lower though, it's a walk in the park compaired to my job now. So after 30 minutes of chit-chat and company history they asked me about my bad trades, hmz. That's easy enough though, I'm bad at decision making, but they had already noticed that cos I couldn't decide on which bad trade to mention...:P
After 40 minutes I was done and I could go. They'll call me next week if they want another interview. I know 2 people who work there though, one has been employee of the month like 20 times, so his recommendation is nice to have. And I'm there connection when it comes to printing stuff, at my other job, so they kinda know me from the phone. So I talked to my friend a bit about how it went, and went on my way again.
On my way home I took lots of lovely pics, ofcoarse, I have to reach my daily quota of 100 pics :)
Since then all I've done is watch soccer with friends, so no other exciting things to tell really. I'm pretty high in the betting poule, but I'm no winner, oh well, I'll aim for the Tour de France betting poules next.
